The Wedding Pictures Are Up!

I am not sure if anyone is still checking this website, but if you are I thought this would be a good place to post the link for the wedding photos. The photos came out beautifully, so be sure to check them out! The photos can be found at Pictage.com. Just type in one of our names and the event will pop up. I think it makes you sign a guestbook. This is the link that works for me: Courtney's Pictage so hopefully one or the other will work for you. Enjoy!

Second Online Poll Concludes

For our second poll we asked you what you would do if we were to play the chicken dance at our wedding. Thank you for those that played along. Here is how it turned out:

Get down with your bad self! 5 votes.
Leave immediately 1 vote.
Who cares! Just point me at the bar! 4 votes.
Dance on the inside. 5 Votes.

That clinches it, come October 12th, its Funky Chicken Time! Thank you for participating, and I encourage you to check out our new poll on the right side of the website.

Costumes

Yes, the rumors are true, we are encouraging you to wear a costume to our wedding and reception. Now, I know there is some confusion surrounding this issue, and I am here to help.

1. As our wedding and reception are at the same place and time it is just fine for you to wear your costume during the ceremony.
2. If you do not wear your costume there, there will be areas in which you can change into your costume (but don't be late!)
3. If you are wondering whether something is either in good taste or appropriate, ask yourself "What Would David Do?" Beyond Halloween costumes, this is in general a good rule for life.
4. Costume contest? Perhaps.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't, too bad.

New Last Name

Traditionally, the bride takes the groom's last name once the couple has been wed...That's fine and all, but why should the experience of having a fabulous new name be reserved only for the bride?? That's why David and I have have both decided to take a new last name. Our new name shall be a joining, or "wedding" if you will, of our two previous last names McMeekin and Christensen.

From our wedding day forth we shall be known as Mr. and Mrs. McChristeekinsen!!!!.....

Has a nice ring to it yes? We considered adding our mother's maiden names (Brady and Morgan) as well but we thought McMorbrachristeekinsenadygan was a bit too cumbersome....

Our Photographer's Blog!

David and I would like to introduce our wedding photographer Jennifer Radack, owner of O Grace Photography. We met Jennifer a month or so ago at our engagement photo session in downtown Phoenix and had a fantastic time. Jennifer came highly recommended by David's cousin and one of the doctors that I work with and it was easy to see why. She is very talented, and has a great energy about her. Best of all, she is excited about our costumed wedding plans, even if choosing a costume is stressing her out a little. If you have any good costume suggestions for a photographer I am sure she would love the recommendations!

You can view Jennifer's blog and our engagement photos at:

Places of Interest and Hotel Suggestions

I thought it might be helpful to create a map with nearby hotels, important places, and entertainment suggestions so here it is for you viewing pleasure!

I picked the hotels based on their location from my mom's house and Dave's parent's house because most of the pre-wedding activities will be in those two places. I also found 1 hotel about 3-4 miles from the Boojum Tree, for those wanting to be close to the wedding site and a couple hotels located in Old Town Scottsdale, for those who want to experience Phoenix/Scottsdale nightlife. They range from expensive to inexpensive with verying star ratings, so check out their websites for further information.
When it comes time to choose a hotel, I highly recommend www.Priceline.com. William Shatner is right, you can get a great deal naming your own price and don't be afraid to start low!

Also, I would love for this to be an interactive map, so if you think of anything else that you would like listed just post your suggestions and I will add them.

Enjoy!

Pre-Gaming

This post is just to let everyone know that there will be a shindig thrown by my wonderful parents Beau and Jenny McMeekin at their lovely Phoenix home the night before the wedding (October 11, for those of you who are unsure how a calendar works). So for family and friends who are booking tickets and such to come celebrate with us you should probably make time for some good times on Saturday night as well.

Congratulations

Well, Courtney and I are quite the trend setters. Just recently my good friend and groomsman Ben Decker got engaged to the lovely Lindsay. The copying does not stop there either! They also decided to steal our idea of using a blogspot page. Congratulations to them anyways.

Wedding Art

Those of you who know my brother Sean, will most likely know that he is a director, but you may not know that he is also an artist. A very talented artist I might add, with a unique and quirky style that I just love. Well, we are all in luck because Sean has agreed to make save the date cards and invitations for the wedding!

We started the save the date cards a few days ago. The sock monkeys on the left were the first draft. Sean sent them to me with the following message:

"this is the best i could come up with im so busy with my movies, so0ry."

I actually really love them, so you might see them again if I can find a place to use them in future artwork, but we decided to go a different direction for the final product.

This is the final save the date card as it will be printed. Isn't it sweet? Right now the plan is to turn the image into a refrigerator magnet so every time you go to get a snack you will be greeted with our happy little cartoon faces. Thanks Sean! You did a really nice job.

(The clouds can also be seen in Sean's film Ignorance Is Bliss. Check it out.)

The Proposal

Many of you already know how I proposed, for those of you who don't I thought I would let you in on it. In February Courtney and I celebrated our 6th year of being together. For this occasion Courtney had planned for us a lovely little weekend getaway in Palm Springs, CA. I had something a little different planned for us. I informed Courtney that she needed to keep her schedule clear for Monday night. When I came home on Monday night Courtney was starving and wanted to go wherever it was we were going right now, and she wanted to eat. After stopping her from raiding the fridge and waiting for rush hour traffic to dissipate some we departed with Courtney still in the dark as to our final destination. As we left she suggested that we might stop at Costco to get hot dogs. She also made many guesses as to where we were going, and when she guessed Cibo, an Italian pizzeria we had visited in the past I confirmed that that was our destination. Once there we took a table on the beautiful patio and ordered our pizzas and wine. I had brought along two gifts and gave them to Courtney to open. The first gift was thin and long and with use of tissue paper was made to look like a flower and it was placed on top of a square and flat gift wrapped in "Simpsons" wrapping. I had Courtney unwrap the smaller gift first, which she found to be a permanent market. The second gift was a photo album (which will be available to view at the wedding). Towards the end of the album there were two pages, one with a hand drawn note asking "Will you marry me? (Please check one)." There were two boxes for her to use the marker on, a larger one labeled "YES!" and a smaller one marked "no : ( " At that time I got on one knee and offered her the ring. Her response was a long "Ohhhhhh!" and to immediately hug me. After a little while I prodded her "Well?" to which she replied "Yes of course!" and emphatically marked the "Yes" check box in the album. That is how Courtney came to be my fiancée.

-David

(A few notes about the proposal book. I tried to make it look as close to the actual book as possible, text and all. If it doesn't make sense, don't worry, it's most likely an inside joke and it makes sense to us. Also, Dave is aware that my birthday is May 22nd not May 24th, that is just an inside joke too.)
