New Last Name

Traditionally, the bride takes the groom's last name once the couple has been wed...That's fine and all, but why should the experience of having a fabulous new name be reserved only for the bride?? That's why David and I have have both decided to take a new last name. Our new name shall be a joining, or "wedding" if you will, of our two previous last names McMeekin and Christensen.

From our wedding day forth we shall be known as Mr. and Mrs. McChristeekinsen!!!!.....

Has a nice ring to it yes? We considered adding our mother's maiden names (Brady and Morgan) as well but we thought McMorbrachristeekinsenadygan was a bit too cumbersome....

Courtney & David,

It does have a ring to it.... and I think the concept has merit. But just in case this notion isn't set in stone, may I offer a couple practical thoughts and suggestions.

First, your proposed last name is kinda long. I used to curse my name as a child because it took me too long to write. OK, so I was slow... just remember, it's your kid's last name too.

Second, it's unusual. You may have a few unintentional consequences as the result of choosing a name that most people have never heard. Henceforth, everytime you give someone your name for a contract, or a doctor's appt, or anything else, you're gonna have to spell it.

Third, you may be making it difficult for future generations to follow the family tree. Of course, if you believe that 2013-14, marks the end of the world, this isn't all that important. BUT... what if all those prophets are wrong????

So, I suggest something shorter and easier to spell. Stay tuned for a few suggestions. Dad

Yeah...I will most likely take McMeekin, but we did have a good chuckle.

It needs more Morgan. Morgan makes everything better. You could call the holocaust the "holoMorgancaust" and it'd be a happy fun time for all. And I have officially made the most tasteless joke on this blog.
